No great religion has prospered by forced conversion and the history of Islam shows that its tremendous initial success was due to its toleration as compared to the intolerance of the Christian sects which flourished then in western Asia and Africa . कोई भी धर्म , चाहे वह कितना ही बड़ा क़्यों न हो , जबरदस्ती धर्मपरिवर्तन कराने से नहीं पनप पाया है.अगर ईसाई संप्रदायों की असहनशीलता से , जो उन्हीं दिनों पश्चिमी एशिया और अफ्रीका में फल-फूल रहे थे , तुलना की जाये , तब इस्लाम धम्र के इतिहास से यह पता चलता है कि शुरू शुरू में सहनशीलता की वजह से यह बेहद कामयाब रहा .
